I was recently in a situation mediating several different parties through a dispute. I found myself in the difficult situation of trying to appease all sides while at that the same time moving things forward for the betterment of the entire group. One night I was having a particularly difficult time figuring out what to do. While I was sleeping that night, my eyes suddenly shot open and Matthew 5:16 entered my head.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
After repeating the verse several times, I suddenly felt peace. The answer from that point forward was crystal clear. I was reminded that as a Servant Leader, you officially forego your right to look out for your own self-interest. I was reminded that we are called to “Let your light shine before others, so they can see your good deeds, and praise our heavenly Father.”
