The secret to victory is found in hardship, and there is no one who knew hardship better than the apostle Paul. In the book of Acts Paul and Silas were imprisoned for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God." Acts 16:24-25
As a result of their praise, an earthquake collapsed the prison, the jailor was converted, and they were set free! Paul maintained a spirit of praise until the end of his life when he once again found himself in chains in a Roman prison, yet emphatically he declared, “I will continue to rejoice!" (Philippians 1:18).
The secret to victory is being able to rejoice in the face of hardship. My prayer is that I will be able to follow the example of the apostle Paul when he said, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again. Rejoice!” (Phillippians 4:4).
