A pattern can be described as a design that we use as a guide. We all have patterns of focus that guide our thoughts and feelings.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself to understand your patterns:
1) Do you focus on what you have or on what's missing?
2) Do you focus on what you can control or what you can't control?
3) Do you focus on the past, present or future?
Your answers to these questions will drive your thought patterns and ultimately drive your state of mind. Whether you live in a state of happiness, depression or somewhere in between, your state can most likely be explained by your pattern of focus. Our creator gave us "choice" as a gift. We have a choice to focus on gratitude or suffering. My big takeaway from this exercise is to focus on the things that will create a pattern of thoughts and behaviors that lead to a happy state.
