I recently attended a work shop led by Tommy Newberry who is the founder of the 1% club. Of the many things we covered, I was extremely intrigued by what he calls an Early Morning Success Routine or EMSR. This is a planned daily routine that each of us can custom make to ensure that we are in the best position possible to own each day. Here are a few thoughts on how to custom make your EMSR:
1) Philippians 4:8 says "Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." Paul is telling us to feed our mind with healthy mental nutrition. Just like a healthy meal is important for our body, starting our day with an EMSR full of healthy mental thoughts and exercises is equally important.
2) Create ground rules for your EMSR such as "No checking email" or "No breakfast meetings." This sacred time sets the tone for your entire day and should be protected.
3) Your EMSR may be the only block of uninterrupted time you have all day so make sure to pack it full of all the important but non-urgent activities that need to get done. Once the daily whirlwind starts it will be hard to squeeze those activities back in.
The best thing about an EMSR is that there is no definite way to create it, other than to customize it to fit you and your daily routine. I look forward to spending some time over the next week to improve on mine so that I will be in the best position possible to make each day a masterpiece.
