Last week, I spent some time catching up with one of our most important vendor partners. He is an immigrant that came to the United States thirty years ago with a visa in hand, leaving his wife, son, and daughter back home. Each year, he goes back to visit them for a week. When I asked about his trip back this year, I could see in his face that something was wrong. As he opened up, he revealed to me that there is a group of outlaws that has taken over the small town where his family lives. This group rides around on horseback stealing and killing whomever they please, and there is no real police force to oppose them. I had a perfect mental image of the "cowboys" from the movie Tombstone in my head as he described how they actually lassoed a rope around a guys head and drug him five miles to his death behind a horse during his visit. So, while he is back in the U.S. he prays every day for his family and makes sure they are in the house with the doors locked before night fall. Listening to this story made it hard to fight back tears thinking about what I would do if my family was in this situation every day. It also made me realize how much we have to be thankful for here in the United States.
This made me think about how fortunate we are to live in a country where our laws protect our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. With another election season here, we all need to really think not only about how great our nation is, but also consider the principles and values of our Founding Fathers that made it this way. We are at a critical point where we can either turn back to what got us here or we can continue down a path of eventual self destruction. History shows that there has never been a great nation that did not eventually fall after becoming complacent and abandoning its principles and values. Let's elect someone that can help us break the cycle and stay on top. Let's elect someone who will reverse our $20 TRILLION in debt, empower our people to grow the economy, and support our military and police force to keep us safe. In this critical election, I encourage everyone to vote for the person you believe shares the values of our Founding Fathers and will help us be the first country in history to stay on top. Choose wisely!
